All our staff go through a rigorous recruitment process and are all enhanced DBS cleared. They all benefit from exceptional training courses, including safeguarding, infection control, first aid, positive beaviour support and induction standards. Our team have previous experience in the children’s sector, and most have experience of supporting disabled children and young people.
We have a mixture of contracted and bank support workers. As we rely on bank staff we can only work to appropriate capacity and have an ongoing waiting list. The wait is dependent on the needs of the individual, which may affect staffing ratios and the days/times in which the sessions are facilitated.
Social worker/parent makes contact with coordinator.
Informal conversation to discuss needs of the child/teen and family to ascertain if our service is the right one for them.
Referral form sent via email/post to gather basic information.
Coordinator may decide to visit other settings child/young person uses to gather further information on behaviours/staff ratio/risk assessments.
Coordinator will make an appointment with parents/carers to compile a detailed All About Me – this will be both person centred and strength based and ideally the child/teen will be present to contribute to this or parts of it.
Parents sign master final copy when complete.
Risk assessments are compiled based on All About Me, social care reviews and school information.
Trial short session booked with matched support worker.
Child/teen added to rota and service continues.
